About Hope For Literacy
Hope For Literacy began with a simple observation: too many children in Kenya were missing out on learning because they lacked basic materials like pencils and exercise books, and often studied in hot, dusty school compounds with little shade.
From that reality, MOMO Pencils created the Hope For Literacy campaign. We set out to design an eco-friendly pencil that could be produced sustainably and distributed widely to schools, while also creating practical programs that make classrooms more engaging and inclusive, turn school compounds into green learning spaces, and introduce children to digital skills and positive role models.
Today, Hope For Literacy works with schools, communities, and partners to deliver integrated literacy and environmental programs that are practical, inspiring, and measurable, helping children learn in spaces that better support their growth, confidence, and future opportunities.

By combining socially conscious product design with practical education programs, we help partners move beyond one-time donations and create lasting change in schools.
The Hope For Literacy campaign brings MOMO Pencils together with tree planting, environmental literacy, coding clubs, and life skills mentorship. Through this integrated approach, we help keep children equipped with the tools they need to learn, teach them to care for the environment, and support them in building confidence, curiosity, and resilience.
